More colleges try to help students who struggle with their courses

Edward Einbinder doesn't kid himself: He knows how close he came to flunking out of college in his freshman year.

After two semesters at Lehigh University, his grade-point average was a lowly 1.7 and he felt defeated. "Realistically, I thought either I would try to get a job or go to a community college for a while," he says.
