I agree. Hawaii is quite well positioned in this global economy. Relationships with the Asia-Pacific Rim region will be key to a research university's successful future.

Even when prompted by the interviewer this president appears to find it impossible to imagine that research takes place outside the sciences and medicine. Welcome to the new world of higher education, in all its philistine ignorance.
