Attempts to Stamp Out Academic Plagiarism

To the Editor:

I am a college librarian, and I applaud your coverage of academic plagiarism ("Professor Copycat," The Chronicle, December 17). I recently had an experience with an academic journal that published plagiarized articles.

Two different students, a year apart, brought plagiarized articles to me at the reference desk. ... The articles were, largely, copies of articles published previously in the same journal. The journal is identified as scholarly and peer-reviewed.
