Athletes Investigated for Food-Stamp Fraud

Seven football players on full athletic scholarship at Fresno State University fraudulently received food-stamp benefits intended for homeless people last academic year, according to a Fresno County grand jury.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, which administers the federal food-stamp program, is investigating the alleged fraud at Fresno State, and allegations that athletes at several other institutions were involved in similar activity.
