Athletes Cite Stress of Balancing Sports and Academics
College athletes face "huge stress" from conflicting pressures of academics and sports that begin during the recruiting process and continue throughout their college careers.
So said current and former athletes last week at a conference sponsored by the Knight Foundation Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics.
The commission assembled the athletes and other speakers in Washington to discuss public concern over the increasingly commercialized character of college
