At the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Web Site Helps Students Survive Calculus

It's not difficult to get students to sign up for calculus. After all, engineering, chemistry, and physics departments tend to require it. But getting students through the course is another matter entirely.

That's certainly been the case at Buffalo, where, for years, nearly one-third of the 800 students enrolled in basic calculus dropped the course or failed it.

That statistic didn't sit well with the engineering or mathematics faculty, so two years ago, they teamed up to do
