At What Cost Research?
Last year, as I was casting about for a research topic for a law-review article, I decided to return to the village in Niger where, 15 years earlier, I had served as a Peace Corps volunteer. When I lived there, one of the things that had led me to sit down outside my grass hut and craft applications to law school had been my curiosity about how people in remote villages resolve legal disputes. Why not finally pursue that interest?
