At This Commencement, Virtual Meets Ritual

Duong Xuan Nguyen traveled 9,454 miles to pick up his diploma.

Mr. Nguyen, who lives in Vietnam, received his master's in business administration online from Alabama-based Columbia Southern University, a for-profit institution. The commencement was held last month in Florida at the National Naval Aviation Museum — a memorable, if unlikely, setting for a college graduation ceremony.
