At Purdue University, a Texas Cat Lover Helps a Veterinary School Fight Cancer

If Dolores L. McCall could buy her many cats more than nine lives, she would probably consider the investment.

She has already built them an 1,800-square-foot, professionally decorated, two-story house that has heating, air-conditioning, piped-in music, a television, a kitchen, and a bathroom for a caretaker who comes when she is out of town.

"They seem to enjoy it," says Ms. McCall, an independent oil and gas investor who lives in Midland, Tex.
