First Comes College, Then Comes Marriage

Millions of people received cards from their spouses this Valentine's Day, but more than 12,600 couples always get one more from their alma mater.

Miami University of Ohio sends cards every year to each of its "merger" couples, formed by the marriage of two alumni or current students. About 26,500 Miami alums, or about 14 percent of all graduates, are married to other RedHawks. Based on informal surveys of other colleges, Miami believes it has one of the highest percentages of alumni
