At Long Last, U. of Alaska Press Picks a New Director; Canadian Medical Association Accepts Plan to Assure Journal's Editorial Independence

NORTH TO ALASKA: After three years without a director, the University of Alaska Press has offered the job to Robert A. Mandel, who resigned last year as director of the University of Wisconsin Press during a period of budgetary strain. He has also held senior jobs at State University of New York Press and at Indiana University Press, and has served as director of Wayne State University Press and Syracuse University Press.
