At College Counselors' Conference, Debate Swirls Over Test Scores and Early Admissions

Fairness in college admissions was foremost on the minds of the more than 4,300 higher-education officials and high-school guidance counselors who convened here this month at the annual conference of the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

The meeting gave both groups an opportunity to evaluate how the standards they set are affecting high-school students and the college-admissions process, and to vote on new policies to improve those standards.
