At CUNY, an Immigration Hot Line Heats Up
At 4:30 on a Tuesday afternoon, Hallie Gaines's telephone rings once again.
The caller is a native of Trinidad who has overstayed a tourist visa she received in 2002. She wants to know how she and her 14-year-old daughter can become legal residents.
