As Economy Chugs Along, States Pour Money Into Higher Education

Annual study finds 7-per-cent increase in spending on colleges, the biggest rise of the 1990s

Big jumps in many states' budgets for community colleges have helped drive yet another year of robust growth in overall state spending on higher education.

States allocated about 7 per cent, or $3.7-billion, more money for college
