Arrests of Duke University Lacrosse Players Mark New Phase in Athletics Scandal
The arrests of two Duke University lacrosse players last week brought into the judicial system a case that the court of public opinion has been considering for the past month in Durham, N.C., and across the country.
The students, Collin H. Finnerty and Reade W. Seligmann, both sophomores at Duke, were arrested on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sexual offense, and first-degree kidnapping. Each of the charges carries a possible sentence of up to 30 years in jail for
