Arkansas Voters Reject Bond for Colleges
Voters in Arkansas have narrowly rejected a $250-million bond issue for higher education.
The measure lost by fewer than 700 votes in a special election held last month, according to unofficial poll results released by state officials. The count was 50.3 percent against the measure to 49.7 percent in favor.
Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican, had called the special election to consider the higher-education bond issue and a transportation bond issue for interstate-highway repairs.
