Are the Worlds of the Working Class and Academe Truly Incompatible?
To the Editor:
I wrote a book about progressive union activists in the Hollywood movie studios, so I have wrestled with the issues put forward in "Seeking Solidarity in the Culture of the Working Class" (July 23) for some two decades, off and on.
I feel that class is one essential component of life in America, and that it plays a huge role in the ways in which a person defines his or her horizons.
