Are Universities Requiring Too Much of Candidates for Tenure?
To the Editor:
The tenure question (yes, it is definitely an open question) is only one of many that higher education must wrestle with, and it's one that the general public does not understand well ("A Higher Bar for Earning Tenure," January 5). So we need to solve it internally, because we can never expect a lot of helpful public support.
