Archenemy of Pork-Barrel Spending Almost Has College Building Named After Him
As a Democratic representative from California, the late George E. Brown Jr. was the most vociferous crusader in Congress against pork-barrel projects provided by his colleagues to home-state colleges and universities.
That's why his widow was so surprised to hear this month that California State University at San Bernardino planned to ask Congress for a special appropriation of $19.7-million to build a science-education building named after him.
