'Approval Voting' Would Have Avoided Electoral Impasse
The 2000 presidential election would not have reached such an impasse if Americans had practiced "approval voting," says Steven J. Brams, a professor of politics at New York University. His preferred method would allow voters to give one vote to each candidate they approved of. The candidate with the most approval votes would win.
