Antisweatshop Champion Leaves Academe to Lead the Fair Labor Association
A champion of the movement against sweatshops has left academe to lead the Fair Labor Association.
Rutledge Tufts Jr., a former auxiliary-services official at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, became executive director of the Washington-based antisweatshop group last week.
Mr. Tufts worked at Chapel Hill for 31 years and became increasingly involved with the campus labor movement. Most recently he tried to ensure that university merchandise wasn't being produced
