Conservative members of the Kansas Board of Education who instituted anti-evolution teaching standards in the state’s public schools last year have lost control of the board, after one of their number was defeated in a primary election on Tuesday and an open seat went to pro-evolution candidates, according to results posted within the hour by the Associated Press. Winners of the seats will be determined in November’s general election.
