A new report from the Association for Career and Technical Education calls on federal, state, and higher-education leaders to create a system in which all Americans receive at least two years of training beyond high school.
The report, “Expanding Opportunities: Postsecondary Career and Technical Education and Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce,” also recommends that policy makers revamp financial-aid policies, improve the credit-transfer process, increase support services for students, and smooth the transitions between high school, postsecondary education, and the work force.
The recommendations echo those made in the last few months by other education associations, the federal Commission on the Future of Higher Education, and organizations focusing on work-force development. —Elyse Ashburn
