Angry Academic Acquitted After Attack Against Administrator

A University of New Hampshire professor was acquitted this week of two criminal charges in connection with a furious diatribe in June in which he assailed a university administrator and blamed her for a parking ticket he had just received. According to today’s New Hampshire Union Leader, John Collins, an associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, was found not guilty of stalking and disorderly conduct. But Mr. Collins, who was stripped of his department chairmanship after the June incident, still faces a court hearing on the restraining order that the administrator, Stacia Sower, sought after the tirade, which allegedly featured a threat to kill her. Mr. Collins also remains banned from the campus. —Andrew Mytelka
