Andrew Mytelka is articles editor for The Chronicle of Higher Education. This position involves various types of editing, for both online and print editions. Mytelka, who joined The Chronicle in 1994, was news editor from 2003 to 2012, supervising daily news operations and coordinating the identification, assigning, writing, and editing of articles posted on the newspaper’s award-winning Web site.
The Web site won two awards while he was part of the team producing it. In 2005 it received an online journalism award from the Online News Association and the USC Annenberg School for Communication. It was also honored by Editor & Publisher in 1997 and 1998 as Best Online Service Produced by a U.S. Weekly Newspaper.
Before joining The Chronicle, Mytelka was assistant editor, associate editor, and then managing editor of the Princeton Alumni Weekly, an independent magazine in Princeton, N.J., from 1987 to 1994. He began his career in the publishing industry as a manuscript editor at Princeton University Press, a scholarly book publisher also in Princeton, where he worked from 1986 to 1987. He graduated from Princeton University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in history. As an undergraduate, he worked on The Daily Princetonian
