Background: Andrew Mytelka has been The Chronicle’s news editor since 2003, supervising daily news operations and coordinating the identification, assigning, writing, and editing of articles posted on the newspaper’s award-winning Web site.
Mytelka, who worked as a Chronicle copy editor from 1998 to 2003, was hired by The Chronicle in 1994 to help plan its online news service, which was launched in 1995. In its early years, Mytelka served as a combination news editor and copy editor for the Web site and related online services.
Before joining The Chronicle, Mytelka was assistant editor, associate editor, and then managing editor of the Princeton Alumni Weekly, an independent magazine in Princeton, N.J., from 1987 to 1994. He began his career in the publishing industry as a manuscript editor at Princeton University Press, a scholarly book publisher also in Princeton, where he worked from 1986 to 1987. He graduated from Princeton University in 1985 with a bachelor’s in history. As an undergraduate, he worked on The Daily Princetonian.
