American Scientist Testifies at Trial of Saddam Hussein

Clyde Snow, a forensic scientist at the University of Oklahoma, testified today in Baghdad, Iraq, at the trial of Saddam Hussein. The former Iraqi ruler faces genocide charges and possible execution. According to an Associated Press report, Mr. Snow testified in spite of objections from Mr. Hussein’s lawyers that, as an American, he was inherently biased against their client. The judge overruled the objections and permitted Mr. Snow, who has investigated killings of civilians in Argentina, Guatemala, Peru, and the former Yugoslavia, to speak about a mass grave of Kurds who were killed by Mr. Hussein’s military forces in 1988.
