'Amazing' Fossil Spurs Evolution Debate
Her official name is DIK 1-1, but she could be called the daughter of time.
Researchers announced last week that they had discovered the remarkably intact fossil of a child in 3.3-million-year-old rocks in Ethiopia. The fossil belongs to the same species as the famous "Lucy" skeleton, also found in Ethiopia, and it is the oldest and most complete juvenile specimen of an ancient human ancestor ever found, according to the scientists who uncovered it.
