Alumni Magazine Loses Ruling Over Ad
A New Jersey appeals court has found that Rutgers University violated the protected free speech of an alumni group when the state institution refused to publish the group's advertisement in the university's alumni magazine.
The three-judge panel this month unanimously upheld a March 2001 decision in state Superior Court against the university in a lawsuit that was brought by an advocacy group seeking to reorganize and de-emphasize the institution's intercollegiate-athletics programs.
