Alumni Defeat Governance Change
Dartmouth College alumni have defeated a proposed new constitution on alumni governance, thwarting changes in the process by which alumni are elected to the college's Board of Trustees.
The results were a victory for conservative students, alumni, and representatives of national groups like the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, who had campaigned vigorously against the proposed constitution. The battle drew the votes of a record 38.3 percent of eligible alumni.
