All the President's Men; The Politics of Mass Starvation
On March 1, 2003, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, considered the mastermind of the September 11, 2001, attacks, was captured in Pakistan. He was transported to an American-run detention facility in Poland. This is how he described his treatment to officials from the International Committee of the Red Cross: "The worst day was when I was beaten for about half an hour by one of the interrogators. My head was banged against the wall so hard that it started to bleed. Cold water was poured over my head.
