Alabama to Vote on Plan to Overhaul Auburn U. Board
After several years of controversy over governance at Auburn University, the Alabama Legislature agreed in May to let state residents vote in November on a constitutional amendment designed to increase turnover on, and broaden the membership of, Auburn's Board of Trustees.
The proposal would add two seats to the 12-member board and allow three members to live outside Alabama. The bill's sponsor, Rep. Joe R. Carothers, a Democrat, believes the changes will help
