Alabama Lawmaker Settles Lawsuit Over Actions as College President
An Alabama lawmaker agreed last week to pay $65,000 to settle a lawsuit that accused him of wrongly spending state money while he was president of Trenholm State Technical College, in Montgomery.
The suit, filed in 1997 by the state's Attorney General, charged that Rep. Thad McClammy, a Democrat, did not follow state competitive-bidding guidelines in awarding a $438,914 contract for improvements to a building.
