Alabama A&M Board Ousts Its President
The president of Alabama A&M University has resigned under pressure.
John T. Gibson left the job last month at the urging of the Board of Trustees, which had announced in January that it was giving him 30 days to negotiate his departure (The Chronicle, January 21).
"You have to leave sometime," Mr. Gibson told The Chronicle. "You serve at the pleasure of the board." He said it was in the best interests of the university and his family that he resign.
