After Heated Debate, U.S. House Votes Again to Ban Cloning
Following an intense debate over ethics and science, the U.S. House of Representatives last month voted again to criminalize any effort to create cloned human cells, either for medical research or to make babies. However, the bill is likely to remain bottled up in the Senate.
The House bill would ban what many academic scientists regard as a highly promising field of medical research. Such a ban would lead to "an unprecedented intrusion of the criminal law into the scientific process,"
