After 40 Years, Has the Grand Experiment Failed?
Looking back on nearly four decades as a community-college professor, I find it a bit unsettling to realize that 1971 and 2009 seem so close in time. I'm ambivalent about a lot of things these days, and depending on when I'm asked during the week, I'm either energized or depressed about the whole community-college enterprise.
