Affirmative Action for Conservatives

To the Editor:

Spare us the calls for affirmative action on behalf of conservative professors, like the essay by Reed Browning ("How to Hire Conservative Faculty Members," The Chronicle Review, April 9). We increasingly hear about faculty members on liberal soapboxes because conservatives are beating the bushes to find outrageous examples. Browning's condescending claptrap about why liberals don't change their political views is especially insulting. He implies that conservatives are
