Adjuncts' Limited Duties Justify Lower Pay

Jack Longmate and Frank Cosco are right to offer the pro rata system for ranking and paying part-time and full-time faculty members at Vancouver Community College as one that American institutions might consider emulating ("Part-Time Instructors Deserve Equal Pay for Equal Work," The Review, May 3). Indeed, in Vancouver's system, part-time faculty members do much the same work as their full-time counterparts, they just do it half time instead of full time. Thus, they
