Accreditors Face Call From Colleagues to Improve College Oversight

The nation's accrediting agencies have been under sustained pressure from the Bush administration to do a better job of showing the public that they demand quality from the colleges they endorse.

Any accreditors who haven't yet gotten the message are now going to be getting it from their colleagues. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation, in a report marking its 10th anniversary, warns its member agencies that too many are not yet requiring colleges to show proof of
