The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools decided on Tuesday at its annual meeting to extend the probation of Bishop State Community College for another year. The move was one of many actions taken at the meeting.
Bishop State, in Mobile, Ala., has been plagued with scandal and controversy. State auditors have concluded that $290,000 in federal financial aid was misused or stolen at the college, and 13 people have been charged with theft.
