Accrediting Agencies Place 3 Institutions on Probation

Accreditors have placed Nebraska Indian Community College, Newberry College, and the University of Guam on probation. A fourth institution, Mount Olive College, had been threatened with a loss of accreditation, but has received a reprieve on appeal.

Probation indicates that an institution is seriously out of compliance with one or more of an accreditor's standards. Although the process varies among the six regional accreditors, an institution is placed on
