Academics in Australia Stage Walkout Over Pay

Just as the new academic year was getting under way in Australia last week, faculty members at two of the country's largest universities walked off the job to protest failed negotiations over a salary increase.

Academics at the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales stopped work for 24 and 48 hours, respectively, after salary negotiations broke down.
