Academics Help Liberals Win Ontario
Voters in Ontario handed the ruling Conservatives a thumping defeat this month by replacing them with the opposition Liberals, led by Dalton McGuinty, who promised a tuition freeze for postsecondary students, 50,000 new college and university places, faculty positions to accommodate the expansion, and improved student aid. The Liberals took 72 out of 103 seats in the provincial legislature.
