Academic Lives Changed by War
Jean-Marie Cook was evacuated from Lebanon with her husband in 1967, during the Six-Day War. Following that conflict, the couple — both Americans — decided never to be evacuated again. Although her husband has since died, Ms. Cook has no plans to break that vow.
