ACT Scores Hold Steady in 2005

The average composite ACT score in 2005 held steady at 20.9 for the second consecutive year.

Yet officials at ACT Inc., which administers the test, said the results suggest that many of the test takers are not prepared for first-year mathematics and science courses in college. Only 41 percent of the students earned a score of 22 or higher on the ACT math test, while only 26 percent earned a score of 24 or higher on the ACT science test. Each of the four parts of the ACT
