A Web Site Explores Connections Between Poetry and Song

When Bob Dylan called Smokey Robinson "America's greatest living poet," he had a valid argument. That's the contention of Poetry & Song, a Web site that draws parallels between the written word and the sung one.

"If there's one place where poetry is alive and well today, it's in the music that students listen to and are devoted to," says Cynthia L. Selfe, the site's director, who is a professor of humanities at Michigan Technological University.
