A Wave of Consolidation Hits For-Profit Higher Education
Small companies can't compete while larger operations seek new markets
Heads turned in the world of for-profit colleges last month when the Education Management Corporation, which operates a chain of 22 art schools, announced that it would pay $78-million for the Argosy Education Group, which has 14 Argosy University campuses and two law schools around the country.
