A Very Good Book
The University of Manitoba got tidings of great joy the week before Christmas when a Bible in its collection was identified as one of about 50 surviving first-print copies of the King James Bible, published in 1611.
"It was a great Christmas present," says Shelley T. Sweeney, head of archives and special collections at the university. Other first editions have sold for more than $400,000 in U.S. dollars at auction, but the university plans to keep its treasure.
