A University's Retraction of a Journal Article

To the Editor:

Peter Monaghan's article "A Journal Article Is Expunged and Its Authors Cry Foul" (December 8) raises legitimate questions that deserve answers.

* Was the article in the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy flawed? In our opinion, it clearly was. After the Boise Cascade Corporation called attention to it, the article was reviewed by the student editors, the law dean, and the faculty adviser, as well as by the university's counsel.
