A Trauma Expert Helps a Campus Cope
A state of exhaustion has settled over employees and students at the University of Southern Mississippi-Gulf Park, says Raymond M. Scurfield, an associate professor of social work there.
Mr. Scurfield, a Vietnam War veteran and an expert on post-traumatic stress disorder, volunteered to offer free counseling services to students and faculty and staff members shortly after Hurricane Katrina leveled much of the campus in Long Beach a year ago.
